We haven’t heard from blistering Toronto four-piece Weaves since our interview with frontwoman Jasmyn Burke earlier this year, but with the reveal of their bombastic new cut ‘#53’, what a delightful reacquaintance it is. Showcasing a raucous, ebullient and typically electrifying performance from the whole band (in addition to Burke’s ever-beguiling vocal agility), ‘#53’ also offers a new anthemic dimension to the art-rock foursome’s sound. With pained yet highly affecting lyrics juxtaposed against the orchestral arrangement of layered guitars, ‘#53’ is undoubtedly one of this exhilarating band’s strongest singles to date.
